We recognise there is a realistic need to protect our native species from introduced predators.  However, we strongly believe that we should be actively seeking alternative, more humane methods.

AJP does not support lethal population control of animals. We will encourage the use of control methods such as contraceptive baits (for rats), spay and release (for cats), repellents (for possums), and emerging technology such as gene drives.

We hope to fund research into these technologies and promote the use of non-lethal control methods.

We are opposed to 1080 poison due to the prolonged suffering it causes.
