Many marine animals, including fish, feel joy, suffering and pain just as land animals do. AJP believes their current treatment is inconsistent with these basic scientific facts and must change.

Many marine animals, as well as countless sea-birds, are caught as bycatch of commercial fishing. Changes are required urgently. All commercial fishing vessels must carry observers to ensure compliance with fishery regulations and to limit bycatch. Any areas in which Maui’s dolphin have been found must be protected from commercial fishing and land-based pollution.
