Animal Agriculture

Our flagship policy is to gradually phase out animal agriculture and transition to a plant-based economy. A just transition to a plant-based economy will be better for environmental protection, nutrition and public health. Diseases such as AIDS, Spanish flu and COVID-19 can be traced to animals used for food.

We understand that this transition will take time. As an interim measure we propose to ban fast-growing chicken breeds, intensive pig farming, live export, long-haul animal transport and mutilations. Financial support for animal farmers wanting to transition will be key to a successful outcome.
