Improving the well-being of people

The AJP is committed to improving the well-being of people by creating a better world for non-human animals.

Policy category summary: The AJP is committed to improving the well-being of people by creating a better world for non-human animals. The current economic system perpetuates harm to non-human animals whilst contributing to the exploitation and detriment of human well-being within these industries. People employed in exploitative animal industries often endure hazardous working conditions, low wages and psychological distress due to the inherently violent nature of the work. Whilst equally people employed in organisations that care for and protect animals face burnout and compassion fatigue from constantly witnessing and responding to animal distress. The ongoing detrimental risks for humans include antibiotic resistance and the spread of zoonotic diseases.

We wish to address these interconnected issues to prioritise the advancement of both non-human animalwellbeing and human wellbeing. We also advocate for increased nutritional knowledge and affordable access to a healthy diet and exercise opportunities for everyone. We support a compassionate approach to all our interactions with each other, human or non-human animal.
