Sandra Kyle

A voice for animals

I have been a voice for the animals for decades through activism, speaking and writing. Through the Animal Justice Party, I want to help give them a political voice also.

Sandra Kyle

Whanganui Council

I believe in the inherent value and dignity of all animals, and I am driven to alleviate their sufferings. I want to see a better world for both animals and humans, and have devoted my life to this work.

Project Karuna

I have written a book. It will be available in print, as an e-book, and as an audio book.
The main narrative of the book is my trip to India in 2023 to disburse funds I raised for the benefit of street animals. It covers previous trips in the 1990s when I stayed in ashrams (in search of 'Enlightenment'), and it is also very much a book about animal rights. I've tried to make it readable, and there's some humour in it, as well as some excerpts from fiction. Half the proceeds will go to my nonprofit for street animals.

Meet Whanganui Council Candidate Sandra Kyle — Animal Justice Party

A Whanganui Local
Sandra has been in Whanganui for seven years, and is a music teacher. For many years she has also been a voice for animals - through writing, speaking and peaceful activism. Sandra has been internationally recognized for her work on behalf of animals.

Committed to Social Justice
Sandra is committed to kindness, sustainability and justice for animals, people and the planet. She would like to be part of discussion to look at more compassionate and holistic ways to diversify and grow the local economy.

Challenges Ahead
Sandra sees climate change, AI, inequality and mistreatment of animals, people and the environment as some of the greatest challenges facing Whanganui, and ourselves as individuals. With a great river, good soil, good people and strong cultural roots, Sandra would like to see us value Te Tiriti, and look after the most vulnerable in the community., including children and the elderly.

Why the Animal Justice Party?
Because animals need a voice—and voters need an alternative.
The Animal Justice Party believes that how we treat animals reflects the kind of society we want to be. By extending compassion beyond just our own species, we make life better for everyone.

Why Run for Council?

The momentum we build here strengthens our position for every future election, including 2026, when we'll have even more opportunities to secure real policy wins for animals and the environment.

This Is Bigger Than This Election
This campaign is about more than one man or one position. It’s about helping people discover that there’s a political party that shares their values—and is ready to fight for them.
If you’ve ever wished politicians had more empathy…
If you’ve ever wondered why no one in power talks about animals…
