Policy category summary: The AJP believes that all forms of animal farming are ethically and morally unjustifiable and unnecessary. Nevertheless, we recognise that certain uses of animals inflict greater suffering than others, prompting our focus on addressing and alleviating these specific harms through our policies. The AJP actively focuses on safeguarding the rights of farmed animals, particularly during the ongoing societal transition towards a plant-based economy. While ideally aiming for a world without animal farming, we acknowledge the urgency of addressing the challenges currently faced by farmed animals and advocate for humane treatment, improved living conditions, and overall well-being.

The AJP recognises that the shift towards a plant-based economy is pivotal in reducing the need to farm animals, and will endeavour to guide this transition with compassion and practical solutions. In envisioning a society that places value on the lives of farmed animals, and seeks non-animal alternatives to food products, we advocate for policies and practices that protect the rights of these animals fostering compassion, responsible farming practices, and the overall improvement, and advancement, of conditions in the evolving landscape of sustainable agriculture.
